Volunteer Week Message from the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba

Volunteers are the Gold of this Earth!!

  • Everywhere I go in this great province, I always marvel at the tremendous volunteer spirit shown by Manitobans of all ages and how it contributes so greatly to our quality of life.
  • The strength, creativity and commitment of our volunteers are renowned, whether the need is organizing a festival or event, raising funds or helping strangers in need. Volunteerism has become a genuine source of pride for us, reflecting a caring attitude and a recognition and appreciation of our shared humanity. It is gratifying to know that our community is always so willing to lend their time and talents to worthy causes that ultimately enrich and strengthen our entire province.
  • As the Queen’s representative in Manitoba, I have the honour of seeing many volunteer efforts first-hand, including those who help with the Lieutenant Governor’s awards programs and those who serve as honorary Aides-de-Camps. Your contributions are both admirable and appreciated.
  • During Volunteer Week 2016, I encourage you to take the time to support your favourite cause and count yourself among the thousands of Manitobans who give so unselfishly of themselves to make life a little easier for their fellow citizens. Indeed, our volunteers are the true strength of our province.

The Honourable Janice C. Filmon, C.M., O.M.
Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba
