Indigenous Veterans have an admirable record of service in Canada’s armed forces, contributing greatly to our military’s outstanding reputation of honour and excellence at home and around the world. On Nov. 8, we honour those who have served, those who continue to serve, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great nation and the principles and values we hold dear.
As the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, I extend my sincere appreciation to Canada’s Indigenous Veterans and their families for their service, and the tremendous sacrifices they have made to serve and protect democracy. Members of our armed forces have always represented Canada with great dignity, so the proper recognition of all members who served is both well-earned and essential.
Today, the pride of a grateful nation is shared by young and old alike, as we come together to pay tribute to our fallen heroes, and to show our collective appreciation for the significant role of Indigenous Veterans in our military’s legacy of exemplary service at home, and around the world.
Lest we forget…
The Honourable Anita R. Neville, P.C., O.M.
Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba
