On Remembrance Day, Canadians come together to honour the brave men and women who serve, and have served, in our armed forces in defense of our great country. Many have made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve the values of freedom and democracy that are such quintessential elements of our national identity.
As the King’s representative in Manitoba, I express my sincere appreciation to our country’s war veterans and their families for the tremendous sacrifices they have made in the name of patriotism and democracy. Those who have had the honour and privilege to wear a Canadian military uniform, past and present, represent our country with great dignity, earning the deep respect of their fellow citizens and our allies around the world.
The pride of a grateful nation will be expressed in ceremonies from coast to coast to coast today, as Canadians gather to remember and honour the invaluable legacy of our military’s meritorious service. Lest we forget…
