Earlier today Lt.-Gov. Anita R. Neville visited Agape Table to deliver over 300 pounds of non-perishable food items collected through the Lieutenant Governor’s Sharing Hope Initiative, a program through which the lieutenant-governor invites guests to bring non-perishable food items when attending Government House events.
“As lieutenant-governor, I want to use my voice to do what I can to raise awareness of food insecurity throughout our province and encourage others to join me in taking an active role to support our neighbours and friends in feeding their families,” said Neville. “Access to nutritious food is a fundamental human right. Having just launched the program in September, I am overwhelmed by the response. The generosity of Manitobans is awe-inspiring. It is my intent to continue this program for the duration of my time in office.”
Non-perishable food items collected will be distributed on an ongoing basis to organizations throughout the province.
