Manitoba Lieutenant Governor

“Place of Pride: Canada’s First 2SLGBTQ+ Seniors Housing and Campus” with Noreen Mian, Executive Director of Rainbow Resource Centre

Next Presentation in the Lieutenant-Governor’s Evenings at Government House
Series of Free Public Events

Lt.-Gov. Anita R. Neville invites Manitobans to attend the next presentation of a series of free public events designed to welcome Manitobans into Government House and showcase outstanding and inspiring Manitobans who, through words and deeds, continually work to make the province better for all.

This upcoming presentation will introduce Place of Pride, Canada’s first dedicated 2SLGBTQ+ seniors’ housing initiative and surrounding campus of queer services, developed in partnership by the Rainbow Resource Centre and Westminster Housing Society. Attendees will learn how this innovative project will create a permanent, inclusive hub where the 2SLGBTQ+ community can gather, access cultural programming, and build meaningful social connections, while supporting seniors to safely age in place within the community they helped build. Located in the heart of West Broadway, Place of Pride will highlight its vision for expanded community space, neighbourhood green areas, and purpose-built facilities designed to foster belonging, resilience, and well-being, serving as a national model for inclusive, community-led development.

The event will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at Government House. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Program begins at 7 p.m. Parking is available on both sides of the Government House driveway – light refreshments to follow.

Those wishing to attend must register in advance with the Office of the Lieutenant-Governor by calling 204-945-2753. Guests may reserve a maximum of two seats per registration. Please note: hats, large bags and backpacks will not be permitted. Registration is now open. Seating is limited. There is no cost to attend.

Please consider bringing a non-perishable food item for the
Lieutenant Governor’s Sharing Hope Initiative.
